The purpose of this forum is to disseminate information and encourage opinion, to provide a place for civilized discourse about faculty matters and their impact on the Oakland University community. You are encouraged to be hard on issues, not on people. Messages that are abusive or offensive will be removed; repeat offenses will result in being banned from this forum.
Standards
In order to create the environment described above, we've established a set of community standards. We expect all participants on our forum to act responsibly and to respect our community and its members. Conduct should be guided by common sense, basic etiquette and the rules listed here.
Topics and Language
Conversation on the forum centers on all topics of concern to the Faculty of Oakland University. Topics not of this nature are not appropriate for discussion on the Oakland University AAUP Chapter forum. Messages containing inappropriate language will be deleted as soon as they are detected. Members who post such items will be prohibited from posting without notice. Please choose your words gently when you post.
Harassment and Flaming
Sometimes discussions turn into disagreements. Please remember when posting that, while it is acceptable to disagree with an idea, it is not acceptable to abuse members who think differently than you do. It is equally unacceptable to abuse forum administrators who are speaking on behalf of the Oakland University AAUP Chapter. Community members are not permitted to harass or flame other members or forum administrators. Harassment includes, but is not limited to, disparaging remarks or hateful comments based on gender, race, ethnic background or religion. Members who resort to this type of unacceptable behavior will be locked out of our community. If you feel you are being harassed or flamed by another member, please contact the Oakland University AAUP Chapter immediately at ForumAdmin@oaklandaaup.org.
Advertising and Infringement
Members are not allowed to advertise on the Oakland University AAUP Chapter forum. A member may answer another member's question about their occupation or business. However, blatant advertising or solicitation of business is not allowed. No commercial messages or solicitations that have not been authorized by Oakland University AAUP Chapter will be permitted on any message forum, and will be removed by the forum administrators. Repeated attempts to post messages that are deemed to be promotional in nature will result in the loss of posting privileges.
Oakland University AAUP Chapter members may not infringe on anyone else's intellectual property rights, including any copyright, trademark, and rights of publicity or other proprietary rights. Please be sure that any work you post is your own.
Disruption
Oakland University AAUP Chapter members may not disrupt the flow of conversation on the forum. The repeated posting of off-topic materials will result in the loss of posting privileges.
Time Limits
Discussions will be deleted 730 days after the last posting.
